This system is used for iron and manganese reduction by oxidation. Similar to the Birm system, the Filox needs oxygen present and the pH to be controlled. However, Filox has a higher flow rate than Birm and manganese dioxide and can tolerate chlorine and has a higher flow rate than Birm and manganese dioxide.
