Legionella Risk Assessment

Legionella Risk Assessment

What is a legionella risk assessment?

A legionella risk assessment is a HSE risk assessment, carried out by trained legionella risk assessment experts.

A survey will be carried out on your site to examine the water services within your buildings. Once the survey has been completed and the results of any samples have been analysed, you will receive a set of recommendations to ensure sufficient water hygiene and legionella management control systems are in place.

How is a legionella risk assessment carried out?

When you contact us regarding a legionella risk assessment, we’ll ask you for a few basic details over the phone or via email. These will usually include the size and nature of your building as well as some information about your water systems. Once we’ve got an idea of your project, we can give you a basic quote. From there, we’ll arrange for our experts to visit your site and carry out a full survey.

When our experts are satisfied with the information they’ve gathered, your samples will be sent to the laboratory for testing. In the meantime, we’ll document our findings. Once we’ve got the results of the laboratory tests, we’ll give you a full report along with recommendations for your next steps. We can then implement these recommendations for you to ensure you are compliant with all legal legionella requirements.

How long does a risk assessment take?

We’ll contact you for a quick conversation regarding your risk assessment within 24 hours of receiving a message from you. The time an onsite assessment will take will vary depending on the size of your buildings and complexities of your water system. For larger projects, the assessment will usually take about a day.

The time between the initial phone call and a finished legionella risk assessment is usually two weeks. If you’re in desperate need of a legionella risk assessment, please let us know and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you.

What happens after my legionella risk assessment has taken place?

After you’ve received the results of your legionella risk assessment, we’ll be able to implement all of the recommendations for you. The jobs we undertake are split into two categories: planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and one off projects.

If you need to arrange monthly, yearly, or two-yearly inspections of your water systems in order to be compliant with water safety legislation, we can arrange that for you.Generally, these type of inspections will be classed as planned preventative maintenance because they are designed to prevent the spread of legionella.

If your water system requires a specific action to be carried out immediately, for example, an expert boiler clean, we can book an appointment at a time that is convenient for you.
